Some Quotes By Augustine

There were three quotes that I liked when researching Augustine of Hippo. The first quote is “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” True, yet it reminds me of the saying that every new event that a person does is a new chapter in their life. The other quote is “I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that are wise and very beautiful; but I have never read in either of them: Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden.” The ironic thing is that Plato and Cicero were two of the figures that influenced Augustine. The final quote is just a quote for the sake of being a quote is “Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.” ~~ Nikolay Zherebnenkov
